India gifted over 40 kg of a special variety of sandalwood to Nepal for use at the Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu, sent by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The consignment was handed over to Ganesh Bhatta, the chief priest of the temple, and is to be used in the worship of the temple's Shree Yantra.
Nepal receives such sandalwood from India every year under the two countries' religious and cultural ties.
Pashupatinath stands on the banks of the Bagmati river on the eastern outskirts of Kathmandu and is dedicated to Shiva in his form as Pashupati, the protector of animals.
The temple was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979.
