EnKash launched India's first UPI-enabled meal card on 22 July 2026, letting employees pay from their meal balance by scanning UPI QR codes.
The card combines UPI payments with the RuPay network and works in physical and virtual formats.
It is accepted at over 500,000 food and grocery outlets and on platforms like Swiggy, Zomato and Blinkit.
Revised Income Tax Rules from 1 April 2026 raised the tax-free meal allowance to Rs 8,800/month, up to Rs 1,05,600 a year.
A PPI is a payment tool — a card, wallet or voucher — that stores monetary value in advance for later use, regulated by the Reserve Bank of India. Holding its own PPI licence lets EnKash directly control the meal card's issuance, spending limits and usage policy instead of relying on a partner bank.
Simple Analogy: Like a gift card you load with money in advance and then spend down — except this one is regulated, reloadable, and now also accepts UPI QR scans.
