Global forest and carbon-cycle research relies on large, pooled datasets of tree inventories, but South Asia — and India in particular — has historically contributed little to these international databases, limiting scientific understanding of tropical forest ecosystems. INvenTree-meta compiles scattered, often-unpublished Indian tree-inventory studies into one structured resource, intended as a foundation for future comparative and climate research and for identifying where India's forest science has the biggest data gaps.
