India, chairing BRICS in 2026, has invited Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman as a special guest to the summit in New Delhi.
Bangladesh, not a BRICS member, was invited in its capacity as chair of BIMSTEC.
The summit is scheduled to be held in New Delhi in September 2026.
The invitation is seen as a move to stabilise India-Bangladesh ties and engage the Global South.
Bangladesh's attendance has not yet been confirmed.
