Saturn's rings are made of countless icy particles, and how and when they formed is still debated — some evidence suggests they may be surprisingly young. Existing knowledge comes largely from missions like Cassini, which observed the rings and made a final dive through them, but never captured and analysed ring particles directly. PRAXIS proposes exactly that: a small, agile robotic explorer that could move through a ring system and sample its particles in place, using AI to navigate autonomously. If matured beyond the concept stage, it could help settle questions about the age and origin of planetary rings.
