Two patterns define India's Glasgow campaign. The first is the weight of women's performance: eight of India's thirteen gold medals were won by women, spread across boxing, weightlifting, judo and para athletics, and five of those golds came from women boxers alone. The second is weightlifting's depth rather than its peak — eleven Indian lifters contested eleven weight categories and returned eight medals, but only one of them gold, with six silvers. A conversion problem at the top of the podium sits alongside an unusually broad medal base. Mirabai Chanu supplied the exception. Her gold at Glasgow made her the first Indian weightlifter to win three consecutive Commonwealth Games titles, extending a career that already included an Olympic silver. Rishikanta Singh and Valluri Ajay Babu set new Commonwealth Games records in the snatch, and Gyaneshwari Yadav and Harjinder Kaur registered personal bests. The pipeline detail is the part with policy content. Six of the eleven weightlifters who competed are Khelo India Athletes, and several — including Bindyarani Devi and Harjinder Kaur — train at the Sports Authority of India's National Centre of Excellence at Patiala. That is the scheme architecture described in the revamped Khelo India Scheme showing up in a result: identification through Khelo India, training at an SAI centre of excellence, elite support through the Target Olympic Podium Scheme. The para-athletes' seven medals — three gold, two silver and two bronze — were India's best-ever return from the Commonwealth Para Games, a competition integrated into the Glasgow programme alongside the able-bodied events.
