IPS officer Sanjukta Parashar has been appointed Inspector General of the CRPF's Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), the first woman to head the unit.
She is a 2006-batch IPS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre and succeeds 1996-batch IPS officer Danesh Rana.
CoBRA is the CRPF's 10-battalion jungle warfare force, raised in 2008-09 against Left Wing Extremism and insurgency.
Parashar earned the title 'Iron Lady of Assam' for leading operations against the NDFB as Sonitpur SP in 2013-14.
She earlier served with the National Investigation Agency and headed the CID of Assam Police.
