The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment has released about Rs 1,089.58 crore under IPSrC and SAPSrC, the institutional-care components of the Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY).

More than 10.76 lakh senior citizens benefited under IPSrC from FY 2014-15 to FY 2025-26, with about Rs 953.53 crore spent.

●AVYAY: umbrella scheme of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment for senior citizens — shelter, food, healthcare, assistive devices, helpline, caregiver training.
●Components: IPSrC, SAPSrC, Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (assistive devices), Elderline, and Training of Geriatric Caregivers.
●IPSrC: senior citizen homes run with NGOs, PRIs and urban local bodies; about Rs 953.53 crore spent and 10.76 lakh beneficiaries, FY 2014-15 to FY 2025-26.
●SAPSrC: launched FY 2019-20; funds State- and UT-specific plans such as awareness drives and cataract surgeries; Rs 136.05 crore released.
●Elderline, the national helpline for senior citizens, number 14567, launched 1 October 2021.
●Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007: Maintenance Tribunals can order up to Rs 10,000 a month.
