The Ministry of External Affairs announced on 18 September 2026 that Hansraj Singh Verma will be India's next Ambassador to the Republic of Cuba.
Verma is an Indian Foreign Service officer of the 2008 batch, currently Consul General of India at Sao Paulo, Brazil.
He succeeds T. Armstrong Changsan, who took charge in Havana in June 2024 and was named India's Ambassador to Armenia in August 2026.
India engaged Cuba's revolutionary government from 1959 and established diplomatic relations in 1960, making 2026 the 66th year of ties.
