L&T Semiconductor Technologies (LTSCT), a wholly owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro, unveiled 40 products at SEMICON India 2026 on 18 September 2026.
The launch includes its first silicon carbide (SiC) platform, a 1200V SiC MOSFET for EV fast chargers, microgrids, solid-state transformers and traction inverters.
It also showed a fully designed-in-India BLDC motor controller whose tape-out is complete.
LTSCT is a fabless chip company. It is targeting US$500 million in annual revenue by FY2031, with 70-80% expected from exports.
SiC is a compound of silicon and carbon. Its bandgap is roughly three times that of silicon, so SiC switches can handle higher voltages, temperatures and switching speeds with less energy loss. That makes it the material of choice for EV inverters, fast chargers and grid electronics.
Simple Analogy: Silicon is a garden hose. SiC is a fire hose: it carries more pressure and leaks less.
LTSCT acquires SiliConch Systems, a Bengaluru semiconductor IP company, for ₹183 crore
LTSCT partners with Hon Young Semiconductor, a Foxconn Group unit, to develop 650V-3,300V SiC and high-voltage silicon wafers
SiliConch Systems amalgamated into LTSCT
40 products, including its first SiC MOSFET platform, unveiled at SEMICON India 2026
Fabless semiconductor arm of Larsen & Toubro; focus on power, analog, compute and connectivity chips
Foxconn Technology Group unit; LTSCT's partner for high-voltage SiC and silicon wafers
India's flagship semiconductor industry exhibition and conference; 2026 edition opened by PM Modi
The government's six-pillar successor to the India Semiconductor Mission incentives, with an outlay of ₹1,27,500 crore. Its notifications were issued in August 2026.
A ₹3,406 crore SiC chip unit in Odisha was approved on 15 September 2026, so SiC is emerging as a distinct track in India's chip push.
SiC traction inverters and fast chargers raise EV efficiency and range, which ties domestic SiC design to India's e-mobility goals.
