Delimitation
Delimitation is the process of redrawing boundaries of Lok Sabha and State Assembly constituencies to ensure that each constituency has roughly the same population, thereby providing equal representation. It also involves reserving seats for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) based on their population proportion. The exercise is carried out by an independent Delimitation Commission.
Simple Analogy: Imagine dividing a large pizza among a growing number of people. Delimitation is like re-slicing the pizza periodically to ensure everyone gets an equitable share based on the current number and distribution of people, even if some parts of the pizza have more people than others.
Articles 82 and 170 of the Indian Constitution
Article 82 mandates Parliament to enact a Delimitation Act after every census for the readjustment of Lok Sabha constituencies. Article 170 mandates similar delimitation for State Legislative Assemblies.
Delimitation Commissions Acts (e.g., 1952, 1962, 1972, 2002)
These acts establish the Delimitation Commissions, which are responsible for carrying out the delimitation process. Their orders have the force of law and cannot be challenged in any court.
42nd and 84th Constitutional Amendment Acts
The 42nd Amendment (1976) froze the delimitation of constituencies until the first census after 2000. The 84th Amendment (2001) extended this freeze until the first census after 2026, using the 1971 census population for total Lok Sabha seats and the 2001 census for seat allocation within states.

National Education Policy
Skill Development & Economic Growth: The policy's focus on vocational training, critical thinking, and multidisciplinary education aims to enhance employability and contribute to economic development.
Delimitation
Electoral Reforms: Delimitation is crucial for ensuring fair and equitable representation in a democratic setup, directly impacting electoral outcomes.
