Jaishankar Launches 'SHANTI' Campaign for India's UNSC Non-Permanent Seat Bid (2028-29)

• •External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar launched SHANTI (Securing Holistic Advancement through Norms, Trust and Integrity), India's campaign for a non-permanent UN Security Council seat for 2028-2029, at UN Headquarters in New York.
• •The campaign also reinforces India's long-standing demand for a permanent UNSC seat and highlights the need for UNSC reform and expansion.
• •India has served eight terms as an elected non-permanent UNSC member and is a major troop contributor to UN Peacekeeping, with nearly 300,000 personnel across roughly 50 missions since 1948.
