There are currently seven National Institutes of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPERs), all declared Institutions of National Importance under the NIPER Act, 1998.
The first NIPER was set up at Mohali (Punjab) in 1998; six more were established at Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Hajipur, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Raebareli after the Act's 2007 amendment.
