The Youth Energy Summit is the youth wing of the BRICS energy track, and its purpose is to feed the views of young professionals - researchers, ministry officials and engineers early in their careers - into the grouping's energy cooperation agenda. The 2026 edition covered diversification of the energy mix, building resilient energy supply chains, innovative financing for the transition, and the digitalisation of energy systems. India used the platform to present its own clean energy programmes, including PM-KUSUM, which supports solar pumps and grid-connected solar capacity in agriculture, and PM Surya Ghar, the rooftop solar programme for households. The BRICS Digital Centre of Excellence on Smart Grids and Energy Storage was also discussed as a shared institutional platform.
