The 20th Asian Games opened at the Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium in Nagoya on 19 September 2026, with Emperor Naruhito declaring the Games open.
The Games are hosted jointly by Aichi Prefecture and the city of Nagoya, Japan, from 19 September to 4 October 2026 under the slogan 'Imagine One Asia'.
The ceremony, themed 'Harmonic Heart Beat', was directed by Japanese filmmaker Yukihiko Tsutsumi and began at 6:00 pm JST (2:30 pm IST).
Forty-six delegations, including an Asian Refugee Team, are competing in 469 events across 43 sports and 71 disciplines, with about 10,787 athletes.
India has sent 503 athletes across 35 sports, defending a record haul of 107 medals from Hangzhou 2022.
