Naresh Pal Gangwar has been appointed as the new Secretary of the Department of Higher Education.

The appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on July 23, 2026.

He succeeds Vineet Joshi, who was transferred to the Department of Panchayati Raj.

Gangwar is a 1994-batch IAS officer of the Rajasthan cadre with previous experience as Secretary of Animal Husbandry and Dairying.
