INS Sudarshini is a three-masted sail training ship of the Indian Navy, used to give cadets hands-on seamanship and navigation experience under sail while also serving as a goodwill ambassador on foreign visits. On its Lokayan 26 deployment it represented India at the International Naval Review 250 in New York on 4 July and at the Grand Parade of Sail in Boston, events commemorating 250 years of American independence, alongside dozens of tall ships from many nations. Such 'sail diplomacy' builds maritime partnerships and showcases India's naval heritage abroad.
