India's Index of Industrial Production (IIP) grew 7.3% year-on-year in June 2026 (Quick Estimate), up from 5.1% in May 2026, driven by 7.8% growth in Manufacturing and 10.6% in Electricity & Gas Supply.
The IIP stands at 123.1 (Base 2022-23=100), against 114.7 in June 2025; Mining & Quarrying grew a modest 1.0%, while Water Supply/Sewerage/Waste Management grew 6.1%.
19 of 23 NIC-2-digit manufacturing industry groups recorded positive growth; the top contributors were Electrical Equipment (34.0%), Motor Vehicles/Trailers (17.5%), and Food Products (10.8%).
By Use-Based Classification, Capital Goods led growth at 14.2%, followed by Intermediate Goods (9.3%) and Consumer Durables (7.7%); the next IIP release (July 2026 data) is due 28 August 2026.
Compiles and releases IIP monthly, based on NIC-2025 industrial classification
Each month's IIP figure is first released as a 'Quick Estimate' based on partial data (a weighted response rate below 100%, e.g. 86.7% for June 2026); as more source-agency data arrives, the figure for that month is revised in later releases (e.g. May 2026 was finally revised alongside the June release) as per IIP's published revision policy
Simple Analogy: It's like a preliminary election count announced on counting night, refined into a fuller, more accurate count as more booths report in over following weeks
| Sector | May 2026 (QE) | June 2026 (QE) |
|---|---|---|
| Overall IIP | 5.1% | 7.3% |
| Manufacturing | 5.2% | 7.8% |
| Electricity & Gas Supply | 10.3% | 10.6% |
| Mining & Quarrying | -1.4% | 1.0% |
