The Shipbuilding Financial Assistance Scheme (SBFAS), an extension of the Shipbuilding Financial Assistance Policy, has an outlay of ₹24,736 crore to offset Indian shipyards' cost disadvantage versus global yards; guidelines were issued on 26.12.2025.
The Maritime Development Fund (MDF), with a ₹25,000 crore corpus, comprises the Maritime Investment Fund (₹20,000 crore) and Interest Incentivisation Fund (₹5,000 crore); MDF guidelines were issued on 20.02.2026, and SBI Ventures Limited was appointed Fund Manager for the MIF on 26.05.2026.
Both schemes align with the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047 (MAKV 2047), which targets India in the top 10 shipbuilding/ship-owning nations by 2030 and top 5 by 2047.
