Under the World's Largest Grain Storage Plan in Cooperative Sector, 1,015 PACS have been identified for godown construction; work is complete in 313 PACS, creating 1.80 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of storage capacity.
The Plan integrates convergence of the AIF, AMI, SMAM and PMFME schemes at PACS level; AMI's subsidy for PACS was raised from 25% to 33.33% and construction cost norms revised upward, with an extra one-third subsidy for ancillary infrastructure.
FCI has mapped a storage requirement of ~26.03 LMT across 216 potential PACS locations in 18 States/UTs, offering 9-year uniform hiring assurance for warehouses of 2,500 MT+ capacity (1,671 MT+ in NE/hilly regions).
