India and Nepal jointly inaugurated the restored Shree Gusthal Mahavihar and Agam of Prathamshree Mahavihar at Guita Tole in Patan, Lalitpur, on 28 July 2026.
The project, funded by a ~NPR 12 crore Government of India grant, restored Buddhist heritage structures damaged in the 2015 Nepal earthquake.
INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage) provided design and project management consultancy for the restoration.
India's broader reconstruction assistance to Nepal covers 30 cultural heritage sites across eight districts, plus 50,000 private houses, 85 educational institutions, and 133 health facilities.
