Since the UN adopted 21 June as International Day of Yoga in 2014 (on India's proposal), the Ministry of AYUSH has signed 27 Country-to-Country MoUs, 16 Ayush Chair MoUs and 57 Institute-to-Institute MoUs to promote Yoga and AYUSH systems globally, offering 104 annual scholarship slots to foreign nationals.
WHO and the Ministry of AYUSH jointly developed a Technical Report on Training in Yoga, setting international training standards; new MoUs were signed in 2025 (with Mongolia's Yoga Federation) and 2026 (with a Réunion-based cultural body) for academic collaboration.
India's AYUSH product exports grew from $869.81 million (FY2020-21) to $1,251.25 million (FY2025-26) — a CAGR of 7.54% — led by Extracts ($593.06 million) and Medicinal & Aromatic Plants ($456.34 million).
Research councils/institutes under the Ministry (CCRAS, CCRYN, CCRH, NIA, NIN, NEIAH, National Commission for Homeopathy, PCIM&H, ITRA) are running active research, capacity-building and employment-generating programmes across Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy and Homeopathy.
