The Maharashtra Cabinet, chaired by CM Devendra Fadnavis, approved new special courts under the NDPS Act and the SC-ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act on 28 July 2026.
A special NDPS court was sanctioned for Pune district, which had around 1,425 pending NDPS cases, with ₹1.26 crore approved for the court.
Five exclusive SC-ST Act courts were approved for Ahilyanagar, Parbhani, Solapur, Nanded, and Yavatmal, with ₹4.51 crore sanctioned.
Maharashtra had 17,023 pending cases under the SC-ST Act statewide; additional courts were also approved for Karjat and Kurduwadi.
