Rajasthan's tiger population reached 149 across five tiger reserves as of 28 July 2026, up from 135 in 2025, released ahead of International Tiger Day (29 July).

Ranthambore Tiger Reserve leads with 72 tigers (up from 66), followed by Sariska with 56 (up from 50) — though Ranthambore's population already exceeds its estimated carrying capacity of 40-50.

Rajasthan's five tiger reserves are Ranthambore, Sariska, Mukundara Hills, Ramgarh Vishdhari, and Dholpur-Karauli.

54 tigresses gave birth to 53 cubs in the year, up from 52 tigresses and 43 cubs in 2025; of the 149 tigers, about 96 are adults.
