Defence Minister Rajnath Singh unveiled two HR policy reforms for the Indian Coast Guard on 28 July 2026.
The first establishes gender-neutral officer induction and career progression.
Women can now join through both Short Service and Permanent Appointment streams, on par with men.
The second streamlines ex-gratia payments for personnel missing at sea during duty.
The reforms come as the Coast Guard approaches its golden jubilee.
