The Ministry of Culture held a National Digitization Drive Workshop in New Delhi under the Gyan Bharatam Mission, with over 200 representatives from States/UTs, manuscript-holding Centres and technology partners; over 1.2 crore manuscripts have been reported nationally so far.
Gyan Bharatam is a Central Sector Scheme (2024-31) with a ₹482.85 crore outlay, restructuring the earlier National Mission for Manuscripts to build an AI-enabled National Digital Manuscript Ecosystem.
The workshop reviewed digitization targets, standardised imaging/metadata practices and showcased leading states and institutions, including Rajasthan, BORI Pune, and Jamia Hamdard.
