India's social protection systems now cover about 101 crore people — over 68% of the population — Labour Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya said at the 4th Global Industrial Relations Summit in New Delhi.
The figure was earlier highlighted by the ILO at the BRICS Labour Ministers' Meeting in Hyderabad.
Employment generated per percentage point of GDP growth has risen from 0.008% twelve years ago to 1.11% today, the Minister said.
The Minister flagged that well-run private hospitals could be designated as ESIC facilities, and that EPFO is moving toward fully digital claims with UPI-based withdrawal under consideration.
