L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Offshore secured an ultra-mega order from ADNOC Offshore on 4 August 2026.
The contract is valued at over Rs 15,000 crore, roughly USD 1.75 billion, for offshore facilities in West Asia.
The scope covers engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) of new offshore facilities plus upgrades to existing ones.
L&T will lead a consortium and carry out a substantial part of the fabrication at its own yards.
L&T classifies orders above Rs 15,000 crore as ultra-mega; it reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 4,123 crore in Q1 FY27, up 14% year on year.
EPCIC stands for engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning. In such a contract a single contractor takes responsibility for the entire chain — designing the facility, buying the equipment, fabricating the structures, installing them at sea and handing over a working asset. Offshore oil and gas work is executed in this form because the pieces are interdependent: a platform jacket fabricated on shore must match the subsea layout precisely, and installation windows at sea are narrow. For the client it means a single point of accountability; for the contractor it means the risk of cost overruns sits largely with him, which is why only a handful of firms worldwide bid for projects of this size.
Simple Analogy: It is the difference between hiring an architect, a mason, a plumber and an electrician separately, and handing one firm the keys with the instruction to give you a finished house.
