A large formation jump is a timing exercise. Participants must leave the aircraft in a planned sequence, match their fall rates, hold spacing in freefall and deploy canopies without drifting into one another. Carrying an oversized national flag adds a hazard the ordinary jump does not have: loose fabric can foul a parachute if spacing slips. For the record to count, the jumpers also had to land inside a designated, camera-covered zone so that independent verification was possible. Guinness World Records, founded in 1955, requires exactly this - fixed rules, measurable parameters such as the number of participants and altitude, and independent observation.
