The BRICS Senior Officials' Meeting of the Environment Working Group and the Contact Group on Climate Change and Sustainable Development began at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on 17 August 2026.
They set the stage for the 12th BRICS Environment Ministers' Meeting at the same venue on 18 August 2026, chaired by Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav.
The meetings are being held under India's BRICS Chairship 2026 theme, 'Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability'.
India's priority areas for the session are sustainable lifestyles, afforestation and forest fire management, disaster resilience, circular economy and climate adaptation.
