Three BRICS workstreams under India's Chairship converged on 17 August 2026: the Environment Working Group and Climate Contact Group met at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi; the 7th ICT Working Group opened at Pune; and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports announced the BRICS youth calendar.
The New Delhi meeting was chaired by Tanmay Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, with delegations from Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, South Africa and the UAE.
India's Chairship theme is 'Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability'; the environment track has run on four priorities - sustainable lifestyles, afforestation and forest fire management, circular economy, and adaptation.
