Nepal President Ram Chandra Paudel conferred the honorary rank of General of the Nepali Army on Indian Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth at Sheetal Niwas, Kathmandu, on 17 August 2026.
The two armies have exchanged this honour since 1950; Nepal's Army Chief General Ashok Raj Sigdel received the honorary rank of General of the Indian Army from President Droupadi Murmu on 12 December 2024.
General Seth, the 31st Chief of the Army Staff, took charge on 30 June 2026 and is on a 17-19 August official visit to Nepal.
He was given a Guard of Honour at Nepali Army Headquarters, laid a wreath at the Army Pavilion in Tundikhel and handed over military and medical equipment to the Nepal Army.
