India's first virtual zoo opened to the public on 17 August 2026 at the Kamla Nehru Prani Sangrahalaya in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, a day after Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated it.
The 8,000 square feet facility was built under a public-private partnership model at an estimated cost of Rs 4.5 crore.
It houses a 3-D dome theatre, a 14-D cinema and a digital jungle safari, with entry priced at Rs 70 per person.
The venue runs 16 shows a day of 20 minutes each, Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 am to 6 pm.
A virtual zoo is a technology-based attraction that recreates wildlife and forest environments using digital projection, sound, motion and physical effects instead of live animals. The Indore facility combines a 3-D dome theatre, which uses a curved screen to fill the viewer's field of vision, with a 14-D cinema, a commercial format that adds 14 sensory effects to the projection - moving seats, wind blasts, water sprays, fog, bubbles and vibration - and a digital jungle safari.
