The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, through the MeitY Startup Hub, opened applications for GENESIS Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) Cohort-3.
GENESIS stands for Gen-Next Support for Innovative Startups; the deadline for applications is 3 September 2026.
GENESIS EIR 3.0 was launched on 4 August 2026 at the GENESIS NextGen Startup Summit, Coimbatore Edition, held at Rathinam Global University, Tamil Nadu.
Selected participants receive grant assistance of up to Rs 10 lakh, plus mentorship, product development support and incubation access.
Eligible ideas must fall within Technology Readiness Levels 1 to 4, with a focus on early-stage startups under two years old and innovators from Tier-II and Tier-III cities.
TRL is a nine-level scale that grades how mature a technology is, from a concept on paper to a system proven in operational use. TRL 1 is basic principles observed and reported; TRL 4 is component and system validation in a laboratory environment. By restricting eligibility to TRL 1 to 4, GENESIS EIR deliberately targets the ideation, proof-of-concept, prototype and minimum viable product stages — the phase at which an idea is too unproven for commercial investors but too promising to abandon. A minimum viable product is a basic version carrying only the core features, built to test the idea in the market.
Simple Analogy: The scheme funds the sketch and the working model, not the finished machine already rolling off a line.
