The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology launched BIO-NIVESH, a platform to connect biotechnology startups with investors and draw private capital into innovations ready for scale-up.
It has been developed jointly by the Department of Biotechnology and the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC).
The inaugural edition brought together 20 high-potential biotechnology and deep-tech startups with around 50 investors across two sessions.
BIO-NIVESH is designed as a recurring platform, with later editions proposed in different cities to link regional biotechnology innovation ecosystems to investment networks.

A not-for-profit Section 8 public sector enterprise set up by DBT in 2012 as an interface agency to strengthen and empower emerging biotech enterprises; it also publishes the India BioEconomy Report.
Shift India towards high-performance biomanufacturing and a bio-based economy, approved by the Union Cabinet and implemented by DBT with BIRAC.
Key: BioE3 Centres are projected to support over 250 startups and MSMEs, generate an estimated 10,000 skilled jobs and contribute up to $25 billion towards the $300 billion bioeconomy goal.
