A National Mass Pledge Against Drug Abuse is planned to mark the sixth anniversary of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.

●Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan was launched on 15 August 2020 by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the nodal ministry, to combat drug demand.
●Reach so far: over 34.56 crore citizens, including 13.71 crore youth and 10.65 crore women; more than 1.64 lakh Nasha Mukti Mitras enrolled as volunteers.
●Target for the anniversary pledge: over 10 crore citizens, through pledge ceremonies in ministries, educational institutions, PSUs, Railways, Defence, NCC, CAPF and other field formations.
●The Ministry implements an evidence-based strategy under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR), which funds states, UTs, NGOs and government hospitals for preventive education, counselling, treatment and rehabilitation.
●NAPDDR's design draws on the first National Survey on the Extent and Pattern of Substance Use in India, conducted by the National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre at AIIMS, New Delhi.
●A national de-addiction helpline operates on 14446.
●The supply side is governed separately by the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985; NMBA and NAPDDR address demand.
