Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan launched the India Valve Registry on 5 September 2026 at the India Valves 2026 conference in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The registry is a multicentre national database that collects secure, de-identified real-world data on patient outcomes in heart valve interventions.
Advanced heart valve interventions have been performed in India since 2011, but no continuous national database existed before this.
India Valves 2026, which began on 4 September 2026, was the 9th edition of India's national forum on structural heart disease and transcatheter heart valve therapies.
Tamil Nadu Health Minister K. G. Arunraj said hospitals doing valve interventions under the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme would be encouraged to join.
A registry pools patient records from many hospitals in a standard format, stripped of identifying details. Over years it shows how treatments actually perform in ordinary practice, which a single trial at a single centre cannot show.
Simple Analogy: A shared logbook every hospital writes into, so patterns show up that no one hospital could see.
