The BAPS Swaminarayan Hindu Mandir at Bussy-Saint-Georges, in the Seine-et-Marne department near Paris, was consecrated on 6 September 2026 by Mahant Swami Maharaj, the spiritual head of BAPS.
It is France's first traditionally designed stone Hindu temple and the largest of its kind in mainland Europe; Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the opening by video conference.
Construction began in April 2024 using stone hand-carved in India and assembled with French engineering support, with the architectural firm Arte Charpentier involved.
The opening formed part of a 13-day Festival of Culture from 2 to 14 September 2026, which included a Jal Yatra on the River Seine on 3 September with over 5,500 participants and 11 decorated boats.

Bussy-Saint-Georges lies in the Seine-et-Marne department east of Paris, in France's Ile-de-France region. The River Seine, on which the Jal Yatra was held, rises in Burgundy and flows through Paris and Rouen to the English Channel at Le Havre.
