Andrea Kimi Antonelli won the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix at Monza on 6 September 2026 for Mercedes, starting from 19th on the grid after a power-unit penalty.
At 20, he became the first Italian to win his home Grand Prix in 60 years, after Ludovico Scarfiotti's win in 1966.
P19 is the second-lowest starting position from which a Formula 1 Grand Prix has been won.
He finished 3.857 seconds ahead of Mercedes team-mate George Russell, with Max Verstappen third; Pierre Gasly took his first pole and finished seventh.
The win took Antonelli to 267 drivers' championship points, 66 clear of Russell.
Formula 1 limits how many engine and power-unit components a driver may use in a season. Fitting extra components brings an automatic grid penalty, so a car with front-running pace can be sent to the back of the grid on a weekend the team chooses to take the hit.
