Forbes, with market research firm Statista, released its first World's Top Performing Banks list on 9 September 2026.
Singapore's OCBC ranked first and DBS second; India's HDFC Bank ranked third and is the only Indian bank in the top 10.
The list analysed 500 banks across 89 countries on objective financial data, not customer surveys.
Weights: profitability 30%, capital and funding strength 25%, asset quality and efficiency 25%, growth and earnings quality 20%.
The United States has three banks in the top 10 - JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo and PNC Financial Services.
