Exercise Samudra Laksamana 4/26, the fourth edition of the India-Malaysia bilateral naval exercise, opened at Lumut Naval Base, Malaysia, on 10 September 2026.
The guided-missile destroyer INS Mysore reached Lumut on 9 September 2026; Royal Malaysian Navy ships KD Lekir and KD Gagah Samudera are the Malaysian participants.
Over 600 personnel from the two navies are taking part, with a harbour phase of tactical briefings, cross-ship visits and subject matter expert exchanges.
First Admiral Ahmad Sapuan Fathi bin Haji Muhammad, Deputy Commander of the RMN Western Fleet, presided over the opening ceremony.
The deployment is framed under 2026 being observed as the ASEAN-India Year of Maritime Cooperation.
