The National Safai Karamcharis Finance & Development Corporation has sanctioned and disbursed ₹3,365.93 crore since inception, covering 6,10,902 persons, up to 10 September 2026.
It lends up to ₹30 lakh to an individual and up to ₹75 lakh to a group at concessional interest of 6 to 9 per cent a year.
Women beneficiaries get a 1 per cent rebate on the interest rate, with a further 0.5 per cent for timely repayment.
Loans are routed through State Channelizing Agencies nominated by States and UTs, along with Regional Rural Banks and Public Sector Banks.

Replaced the Employment of Manual Scavengers and Construction of Dry Latrines (Prohibition) Act, 1993. It goes beyond dry latrines to outlaw all manual cleaning of insanitary latrines, open drains and pits, and — unlike the 1993 law — provides for rehabilitation of those identified.
The Act under which the NCSK was constituted on 12 August 1994. The Act lapsed in February 2004, since when the Commission has continued as a non-statutory body under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, its term extended from time to time.
