The Department of Financial Services won the First Prize under the Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar for 2025-26 in the category of ministries and departments with fewer than 300 personnel.
The award was presented by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah at the inaugural session of Hindi Diwas 2026 and the 6th All India Official Language Conference.
The conference was held on 14-15 September 2026 at the CIDCO Exhibition Centre, Vashi, Navi Mumbai, and was organised by the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs.
Additional Secretary Hari Har Mishra received the award for the department; Rajbhasha Gaurav and Rajbhasha Kirti awards for 2025-26 were conferred on individuals and institutions.
Set up in June 1975 as a separate department of the Ministry of Home Affairs; implements the constitutional provisions and the Official Languages Act, 1963, and confers the Rajbhasha awards every year on Hindi Diwas
Established in 1967, the apex policy-making body for the promotion of Hindi, chaired by the Prime Minister
City-level committees that coordinate official language work across central government offices, public sector undertakings and nationalised banks; constituted in towns with ten or more central government offices
Declares Hindi in the Devanagari script the official language of the Union, with the international form of Indian numerals, and provided for the continued use of English for fifteen years from the commencement of the Constitution.
Places a duty on the Union to promote the spread and development of Hindi so that it can serve as a medium of expression for the composite culture of India - the constitutional peg on which the conference and the awards hang.
Permits the continued use of English alongside Hindi for the official purposes of the Union and for business in Parliament, the assurance that answered the fears of non-Hindi-speaking states.
