NHRC took suo motu cognizance of a media report that a woman was beaten, had her hair cut and was paraded semi-nude by her husband and relatives in Banswara, Rajasthan, on 1 September 2026.
Notices went to Rajasthan's Chief Secretary and the Banswara Superintendent of Police for a report within two weeks.
The report must cover the investigation status and any compensation paid to the victim.
