Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan, ex-officio President of ICWA, addressed its 25th anniversary as an Institution of National Importance at Sapru House, New Delhi.
ICWA, founded in 1943, was declared an institution of national importance by the Indian Council of World Affairs Act, 2001.
He set four priorities: research on Neighbourhood First, Act East, Global South and Indo-Pacific; cyber, space, critical technologies and supply chains; university outreach; and an Indian-perspective knowledge repository.
He congratulated EAM S. Jaishankar, ICWA's Vice-President, on India's hosting of the BRICS Summit and the unanimous New Delhi Leaders' Declaration.
Section 2 declares ICWA an institution of national importance. The Council appoints its Director-General from a panel recommended by the Ministry of External Affairs. Objects (Section 13) include promoting study of Indian and international affairs, strengthening India's international relations, publishing, and holding conferences.
