Veteran actor Anant Nag was named on 16 September 2026 as the recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2024.
He will receive it at the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony in Kevadia (Ekta Nagar), Gujarat, on 22 September 2026.
He is only the second Kannada actor to win the award, after Dr Rajkumar.
The award is India's highest honour in cinema. It was instituted in 1969, and Devika Rani was its first recipient.
Anant Nag received the Padma Bhushan in 2025 and is known for Shyam Benegal's parallel cinema and Doordarshan's Malgudi Days.
