NITI Aayog approved the Rs 2,200-crore expansion master plan of Coimbatore International Airport, Tamil Nadu, on 16 September 2026; it now awaits the Cabinet Committee on Expenditure.

A new 75,000 sq m terminal will raise capacity from 3.63 million to 12 million passengers a year, and peak-hour capacity from 1,770 to 4,200.

The runway will be extended from 2,990 m to 3,810 m to handle wide-body aircraft; 627 acres will be added to the existing 420 acres.
