Indian Railways has approved Kavach Version 4.0 on 607.7 route kilometres of the Lucknow Division of North Eastern Railway at a cost of Rs 252 crore.
The sanction covers the identified balance sections of the division, extending Kavach across its remaining routes.
Kavach is an indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection system that prevents Signal Passing at Danger and applies the brakes automatically when required.
