Ashiss Kumar Dash joined Infosys in 1995 and has spent roughly 31 years there, currently as Executive Vice President and a global head within the company's services business. His selection is a break with Infosys tradition: the two previous CEOs, Salil Parekh and before him Vishal Sikka, were both hired from outside, so Dash is the first to be promoted from within. Salil Parekh, who became CEO in 2018 after Sikka's departure, is credited with stabilising the company and expanding its digital and cloud offerings, with revenue and market value rising substantially over his tenure. The transition matters because it comes as IT services firms face pressure to adapt to artificial intelligence and automation.
