India will host the International Type 1 Diabetes Summit 2026 in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, from 30 July to 1 August 2026.
The summit was formally unveiled on 23 July 2026 at New Delhi.
It is organised by Friends of Mewar with Breakthrough T1D and the William J. Clinton Foundation.
Discussions will cover insulin access, diabetes technology, continuous glucose monitoring and digital health.
The summit, originally launched in Udaipur, has expanded to Jodhpur with a wider international focus.
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition in which the body's own immune system destroys the insulin-producing beta cells of the pancreas, so the body makes little or no insulin and the person needs lifelong insulin therapy. It usually appears in childhood or adolescence. This is different from the far more common Type 2 diabetes, where the body still makes insulin but cannot use it effectively (insulin resistance) and which is linked to lifestyle factors.
Simple Analogy: In Type 1 the insulin factory has shut down; in Type 2 the factory works but the delivery system has stopped responding.
